So far, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has been my go-to. Just finished the first season. It’s a true crime podcast from small towns, and it’s super well done in my opinion. If you’re into learning about crime and investigations, I’d recommend it. My sister recommended Last Podcast On The Left, which I’ll get to eventually.

Anyone else have good long-form podcast suggestions?

On long drives I’ve been listening to “My Dad Wrote a Porno” but when working on cars I listen to “Welcome to Night V ale”. The former is a reading, with commentary, of a series of pornography that the lead narrator’s dad. Very hilarious I swear. The latter is like an NPR evening broadcast from a surreal alternate universe. Funny and dark, which is my favorite.

I’ll also dabble with “Ask Me Another” which is a wordgame/wordplay and trivia gameshow that is also funny and smart.

I’ve heard of My Dad Wrote a Porno and I’m very familiar with Welcome to Night Vale.

If you have a LOT of time for it, I listen to The Kirk Minihane Show...it’s every day and typically runs 2.5-3 hours. Only problem is that it gets very insidey so you kinda have to listen every day

For car stuff, The Revival Motoring Podcast is great, and that show actually turned me onto one Chris Harris does called Collecting Cars where he does a long interview with somebody like a Martin Brundle or Tiff Needell and that’s really excellent.

I love My Brother, My Brother, and Me. It’s an advice show hosted by three brothers except the question is ofte n discarded in favor of a goofy conversation. They’re nearing episode 500 now.

I like Sawbones which is a medical history show. Court Appointed which has a humorous take on historic and current legal cases. Mobituaries is an interesting show. I also just finished Dolly Patton’s America. You can probably figure out what that’s about on your own.

The Way I Heard It by Mike Rowe.

Cautionary Tales (Pushkin Industries)

These are time fillers when I’m all caught up with my Audible books. I took the plunge and subscribed, so I get a new book every month. I always pick something that’s at least 20 hours long so it lasts at least two round-trips between Houston and Baton Rouge.

I like Small Town Murder quite a bit. It’s true crime but the hosts are comedians so it has a comedic slant to it. Each episode is between 2-3 hours and each case is incredibly well researched. I find it hugely entertaining but I do a know it may not be for everyone.

Car Talk always has a few old episodes up at any given time.

I’m pretty partial to the Judge John Hodgman podcast. Former daily show correspondent and “I’m a PC” guy from those Mac commercials a decade ago mediates silly disputes between friends/family members.

It’s usually super petty stuff like “My boyfriend wears his american flag pants too often” and “make my mom stop using a phoney french accent in public”
